Paweł Wąsek's Historic Win at Rasnov Signals Bright Future

Paweł Wąsek has emerged victorious in Rasnov, marking a significant milestone in his career. The Polish ski jumper clinched his first-ever victory in the Summer Grand Prix during Saturday's competition in Rasnov, Romania, with impressive jumps measuring 95 meters and 92 meters, significantly boosting his position in the overall standings.

At the start of the event, American jumper Kevin Bickner took the lead with an outstanding first jump of 97.5 meters, narrowly ahead of Wąsek, who landed at 95 meters, placing him just 1.4 points behind.

Ulrich Wohlgenannt from Austria secured third place with a jump of 96.5 meters, followed closely by Marco Woergoetter (97 m), Keiichi Sato (95 m), and Ren Nikaido, who also managed a jump of 97.5 meters. However, in the second round, Wąsek showcased his skills and overtook his competitors.

In this decisive round, Wąsek soared to 92 meters, ultimately ensuring his victory at the Summer Grand Prix. He finished 2.3 points ahead of Wohlgenannt, who jumped 93 meters, while Bickner, after starting strong, dropped to third place with a jump of 91.5 meters. Ren Nikaido (95.5 m), Felix Trunz (93.5 m), and Woergoetter (92 m) rounded out the top six.

Kacper Juroszek faced disappointment, finishing fourteenth after starting the second round in ninth place, with a jump of 91.5 meters. Jakub Wolny followed closely behind him with a 95-meter jump, while Maciej Kot placed nineteenth with a 92.5-meter jump.

Wąsek's triumph at Rasnov highlights his talent, as he previously secured second place at this venue in 2022. With this victory, he has risen to fourth place in the overall Summer Grand Prix standings with 163 points, trailing behind leader Alex Insam (213 points) and absent competitors Marius Lindvik and Stefan Kraft, both at 200 points.
