Paweł Wąsek, the 25-year-old Polish ski jumper, was candid about his performance at the Sapporo World Cup events. He stated, "The lower top-20 isn’t a huge success," noting that while his run-up and initial flight phase were good, he simply lacked the necessary speed during the final phase of take-off.
In Sapporo, Wąsek managed to secure a 19th place finish in one event and 17th in another. He expressed that although there were some positive aspects to his jumps, he was disappointed overall and believes there is much room for improvement.
Wąsek traveled to Japan alone from the USA, where he had competed in Lake Placid the previous week, while the remainder of the Polish team flew in from home. Reflecting on his journey back to Poland, he remarked with a smile that having reached his destination, the next competitions should be easier, and he is looking forward to regrouping with his coaches and teammates before the upcoming World Championships in Trondheim, scheduled for February 26.
