Paweł Wąsek confirmed his position as the number one in Polish ski jumping by achieving fifth place in the World Cup event in Zakopane. However, he still has some challenges. "There were a lot of nerves," he commented on the situation before the competition.
Wąsek scored 136 meters in the first round and improved to 137 meters in the second, almost reaching the podium.
Despite the successful jumps, Wąsek mentioned that he struggled with his balance during the trial round. "I messed up that jump, and I lost my balance at the transition. The takeoff wasn't the best, but mistakes can happen," he said, acknowledging that the nerves had an impact on his performance.
Looking ahead, Wąsek is preparing for the jumping events in Oberstdorf, where he is eager to see how his improved jumping skills will fare against international competitors.
"I feel good about my jumps. I believe I have improved a lot in the flight phase, so I'm looking forward to seeing how everything will look!" he expressed excitedly.
