Paweł Wąsek’s Great Ambitions: ‘That’s What You Train for Your Whole Life’

Interview with Paweł Wąsek

Polish ski jumper Paweł Wąsek, aged 25, is experiencing the best period of his career. During a recent visit to Lake Placid, where he competed in two World Cup events finishing 11th and 9th respectively, Wąsek expressed his ambition to lead not only within the Polish team but also on the international stage.

"You train your whole life for this – to be a leader. Not only within the Polish squad, but eventually in the World Cup as well," he said.

Wąsek has also achieved an impressive 8th place finish in the Four Hills Tournament and currently sits 13th in the World Cup standings, the highest among the Polish team. In the interview, he reflects on his sporting upbringing in a family steeped in athletic tradition, with relatives involved in ski jumping, running, and alpine skiing, which naturally led him to pursue his dream of ski jumping from a very young age.

His determination and ambition underscore his belief that hard work and lifelong training are the keys to success in the demanding world of international ski jumping.
