Paschke's Next Coup

To conclude an outstanding weekend, ski jumper Pius Paschke has once again reached the podium after his initial victory.

Pius Paschke has flown to the podium once again at the World Cup opener in Lillehammer, retaining the yellow jersey of the overall leader. A day after his surprising debut victory, the 34-year-old from Kiefersfelden finished second in fierce snowy conditions, only losing to Austria’s Jan Hörl.

This marks a remarkable start for the German team, as they won the mixed team event on Friday, and Katharina Schmid excelled in the women's competition, leading the World Cup following her victory on Sunday.

Hörl Better than Paschke

Paschke improved his position with another outstanding second jump, reaching 136.0 m, moving up from fourth to second place. He scored a total of 277.8 points, just behind Hörl's 285.3 points, who had a final jump of 139.5 m. The third place went to Hörl's compatriot Daniel Tschofenig with 273.8 points.

Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger (Ruhpolding) concluded the event with a seventh-place finish on a jump that he doesn't particularly favor. Five-time world champion Karl Geiger (Oberstdorf) also showed improvement, finishing in 13th place. Stephan Leyhe (Willingen) placed 18th, while Philipp Raimund (Oberstdorf) came in at 26th, gathering valuable points.

Returnee Markus Eisenbichler (Siegsdorf) missed the final as he finished 32nd after the first round. Young talent Adrian Tittel (Aue), who scored his first points in his World Cup debut the day before, was disqualified during qualification due to irregular ski length.
