Olympic Champion Huber Departed with Knee Pain

Daniel Huber, who secured victory at the season finale in Planica last March, has cancelled his participation in the ski jumping season opener in Lillehammer due to issues with his right knee. After training on Wednesday, he reported experiencing significant pain and subsequently decided to return to Austria for further evaluation.

"After the afternoon session, a severe pain occurred. I hope it's not too serious," Huber expressed. The 31-year-old had previously taken a break for several weeks following a fall during the Continental Cup in Stams at the end of September. Maximilian Ortner has been named as his replacement.

The new season is set to commence with a mixed team event at 16:15 (local time) on Friday, followed by individual events for both men and women over the weekend.
