Norwegians Disqualified from Ski Jumping World Championships for Altering Suits
Originally published in L'Équipe on March 08, 2025
Norwegian ski jumping at the World Championships in Trondheim has been overshadowed by a cheating scandal involving modifications to jump suits. Marius Lindvik, who initially placed second behind Slovenia's Domen Prevc, was disqualified along with teammates Johann Andre Forfang and Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal.
The disqualification stems from claims made by representatives from three other countries who raised concerns about alterations to the apparel. The International Ski Federation (FIS) confirmed that an investigation revealed tampering after the second round, which led to a loss of medals for the Norwegian team. The silver medal typically awarded to Lindvik now goes to Austrian Jan Hörl, while Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi will receive the bronze medal.
Lindvik’s absence from the podium ceremony illustrates the impact of these allegations on what should have been a celebratory moment. The situation has sparked conversations about compliance and integrity in competitive ski jumping, with the FIS emphasizing the importance of adherence to regulations surrounding equipment."
