Norwegian Ski Jumping Coach Suspended for Equipment Manipulation
Originally published in L'Équipe on March 10, 2025
Magnus Brevig has been suspended by his federation after the Norwegian ski jumpers were disqualified from the big hill event at the World Championships due to the use of non-compliant suits. The Norwegian Ski Federation confirmed that the equipment was deliberately manipulated in violation of FIS regulations to gain an advantage in competition. The issue arose after a video surfaced showing team members sewing additional and stiffer thread into the suits of two jumpers, Marius Lindvik and Forfang, just before the competition. This incident led to significant controversy, resulting in the disqualification of the affected athletes and suspension of their coach and technician. The board of the Norwegian Ski Federation stated that these actions warranted the suspension of Magnus Brevig and Adrian Livelten.
