Norway Finishes Second in Team Event in Zao – Kvandal Falls on Last Jump

Norway secured second place in the team competition held in Zao, with Eirin Maria Kvandal achieving the longest jump of the event at 102.5 meters, despite falling during landing. Kvandal quickly recovered from the fall without serious injury.

The Norwegian duo, along with Thea Minyan Bjørseth, finished 4.2 points behind the leading German team, while Austria took third place. This event marked the only women's team competition in the World Cup season.

In the first round, Bjørseth jumped 90.5 meters, while Kvandal delivered an impressive 97 meters. Only Slovenia's Nika Prevc surpassed them with a jump of 97.5 meters, granting Norway a narrow lead of 0.8 points over Germany.

In the second round, Bjørseth improved to 93 meters, which helped solidify Norway's position at the top. Kvandal continued to maintain strong performance with another jump of 97.5 meters, extending their lead to 7.6 points before the final round.

However, in the decisive jump, while Bjørseth managed 94.5 meters, Kvandal executed another outstanding jump of 102.5 meters but unfortunately fell, affecting her final score in the competition.

The format of the super team competition requires each nation to field two competitors who take three jumps each. After two rounds, the top eight nations progress to the final round. Another individual competition is scheduled to take place in Zao on Sunday.
