Germany has issued a weather warning ahead of this season's first ski jumping competition in Oberstdorf. Starting at 12:00 PM, there will be a warning for gusts of wind reaching storm strength, potentially hitting speeds of up to 5.5 m/s. This could pose challenges for competitors at the ski flying hill. During the previous weekend of January, the World Cup returned to Oberstdorf, where athletes competed for the first time this season in ski flying. Johann Andre Forfang won the qualification round with a jump of 236 meters, while Poland's best performer, Paweł Wąsek, reached 210.5 meters. Wąsek is set to compete alongside Aleksander Zniszczoł, Jakub Wolny, Piotr Żyła, and Kamil Stoch in the main event.

The weather forecasts are particularly concerning. The winds in Oberstdorf are expected to be strong, with an average gust speed of 2.5 m/s at 4 PM and maximum gusts potentially reaching 5.5 m/s.

A weather alert has been issued for Oberstdorf, indicating that the winds may reach storm strength. This alert is expected to remain in effect until Sunday at 6 AM. Additionally, over Saturday, cloudy weather is expected.

The first round of ski flying competitions at Heini-Klopfer-Skiflugschanze in Oberstdorf is set to take place on Saturday afternoon, starting at 4:30 PM, with a trial series happening earlier at 3 PM. Live coverage will be available in Przegląd Sportowy Onet.
