— I know that a ski jumping hill is planned to be built in Kemerowo. Of course, we would like to have such a complex — reveals Jewgienij Klimow to Sport-Express. Russians want to erect the first "mammoth" in the country in a location that was historically significant for Poles, as it was a place of forced settlements.

On October 29, 2024, Klimow discussed the challenges faced by Russian ski jumping, particularly after their exclusion from international competitions post the Ukraine conflict. He emphasized the lack of adequate infrastructure for the national team and mentioned ongoing discussions about several new facilities.

Klimow stated that the construction project in Kemerowo aims to establish a standard ski jumping hill, but pointed out that they need more significant structures for international competitions. He hopes that the efforts to build a prominent ski jumping complex will increase the sport's popularity in Russia, which has been suffering from decreased interest.

Regarding the location for a desired large ski jumping hill, Klimow expressed a personal wish for it to be built in his homeland, Perm, to revive the first ski jumps that were in poor condition. He pointed out examples of existing infrastructure issues and the need for restoration of abandoned jumps for comprehensive training facilities for athletes.

Klimow also spoke about the upcoming Russian-Chinese Games in Sakhalin, where smaller jumps would be used, but emphasized the necessity for larger constructions that would meet World Cup standards.
