Message Before the Start

Pinkelnig: "It's About Standing Tall"
Published on 21.11.2024
Eva Pinkelnig is entering the new ski jumping season with confidence and a strong message. Before the opening weekend of the World Cup, she declared, "We aim to jump far and celebrate loud." Pinkelnig highlighted her optimistic approach to the competitions lined up in Lillehammer, which includes a mixed event on Friday and individual competitions on Saturday and Sunday.

Pinkelnig, who is considered a strong contender at the Lysgårdsbakken, is feeling well-prepared, healthy, and fit. "Jumping remains a source of joy, and I look forward to executing well in competition," said the overall World Cup winner of the 2022/23 season during an interview. She acknowledged the excellent work of her support team, especially given her age and past knee issues that limited her last season.

The head coach of the women's team, Bernhard Metzler, shares the optimism as they head to Norway. "She has been at the top for two years and continues to jump at the same high level. That deserves recognition," he remarked.

200-Meter Goal in Sight
The highlight of the season will be the Nordic Ski World Championships held from February 28 to March 7 in Trondheim. Pinkelnig looks forward to the ski flying event in Vikersund, hoping to finally surpass the 200-meter mark that she narrowly missed previously.

Having started the new season with a new sponsorship, Pinkelnig carries the message "Eva, not sorry" on her helmet, aimed at encouraging women to embrace themselves without apologies for their appearances. After the opening weekend, the female ski jumpers will enjoy a brief break, differing from their male counterparts. From the 2026/27 season, the competition schedules will align, benefiting all involved. With plans for her future after the 2026 Olympics, she is considering retirement with family aspirations in mind.
