Kamil Stoch, a three-time Olympic champion, will miss the upcoming World Championships in Trondheim after a surprising decision by his coach, Thomas Thurnbichler. Many fans were shocked by the decision, especially as Stoch had been struggling with his form this season and was taking breaks in order to improve.

In an interview with Fact, former German ski jumper Martin Schmitt expressed his empathy for the veteran. “I would love to see him on the podium again. But such is the sport,” he commented, underlining that the key to success is the jumper’s self-confidence. Schmitt stressed that believing in oneself and striving for perfection are essential components of success in ski jumping.

The Polish Ski Association (PZN) confirmed that the decision about the national team was made to create optimal conditions for all athletes, avoiding excessive internal competition. Coach Thurnbichler explained that Stoch should continue his training, as there is still a chance for him to join the team later in the season.

World Championships in ski jumping are scheduled to take place from February 26 to March 9, and this decision marks a significant moment in the career of one of ski jumping’s most renowned figures.
