Strong winds and changing weather conditions posed significant hurdles for the organizers of the ski jumping competition in Ruka, Finland. The Scandinavian team had to work hard to ensure the event could take place at all. Adam Małysz did not hold back his frustration, stating, "It’s blowing as if there's no tomorrow, a complete mess!"
Due to the weather conditions, instead of the scheduled two practice rounds, the organizers decided to hold only one. Further delays ensued affecting the qualification rounds, confirming Małysz's dissatisfaction with how things were unfolding.
The qualification for the individual competition on Saturday faced substantial delays due to the strong winds, which reached peaks of up to 10 m/s, complicating the training sessions for participants.
This turn of events drew notable criticism from Adam Małysz, president of the Polish Ski Association, as he vented his emotions on social media. He remarked about the slow progress of the event and the consistently poor performance of the jumpers affected by the unfavorable conditions.
