Major Change at the Top! Here’s How the World Cup Standings Look

The victory of Daniel Tschofenig in the New Year's contest in Garmisch-Partenkirchen not only brought a key shift in the standings of the Four Hills Tournament but also led to changes in the overall World Cup classification. The Austrian has outpaced Pius Paschke, who had held the top position since the start of the season. The difference between them is only two points!

In the quest for the Crystal Ball, Polish athletes have long been sidelined. Check how the current overall classification of the World Cup looks.

Daniel Tschofenig's victory in the second contest of the prestigious series has given him two points more than fellow countryman Pius Paschke, who placed only ninth in the New Year's competition.

Austrian Dominance in the World Cup

Right behind them, in pursuit of the Crystal Ball, are Austrians: Jan Hoerl (40 points behind his compatriot) and last year’s World Cup winner Stefan Kraft, who is 197 points behind the leader.

The top ten standings include two more Austrians: Maximilian Ortner and Michael Hayboeck (ninth and tenth place respectively). Hayboeck finished the New Year’s contest on the podium, setting a new hill record that had belonged to Dawid Kubacki since 2021.

Poles Lagging in the World Cup

In the Four Hills Tournament, Polish athletes have struggled to find their form, as reflected in the World Cup standings. Among Thomas Thurnbichler's charges, Paweł Wąsek is the highest ranked at 15th place with 182 points. Aleksander Zniszczoł is in 20th place (144 pts), followed by Jakub Wolny in 29th (64 pts).

Just behind him is Kamil Stoch, who has earned only 57 points so far. Dawid Kubacki holds the 32nd position with 49 points, and Piotr Żyła ranks 41st with 41 points.
