In Hinzenbach, Poland's Paweł Wąsek clung to the coveted yellow jersey as the leader of the Summer Grand Prix, even as Stefan Kraft closed the gap behind him. Wąsek secured a fifth-place finish in what was the second-to-last event of the series, while his compatriot Dawid Kubacki shared the spotlight at the top. The ultimate fate of the competition awaits in the final event in Klingenthal.

During the practice rounds leading up to Sunday’s competition, Kubacki delivered a standout performance, impressively launching himself to an impressive 90-meter jump. Kacper Juroszek showed promise as well, finishing in 15th place, but both Jakub Wolny and Wąsek faced difficulties, landing in 22nd and 28th places, respectively. Notably, this was Wąsek's first time competing while wearing the leader's yellow jersey.

However, Juroszek struggled to mirror his earlier practice success during the competition itself, achieving only an 82.5-meter jump, which unfortunately didn’t qualify him for the final round. On the brighter side, Kubacki’s leap of 89 meters positioned him well, placing him in third position going into the second round.

Wolny managed to cover 85.5 meters, landing in 18th place after the first leg. Meanwhile, Wąsek capitalized on his leader’s advantage, jumping just shy of Kubacki and landing himself in fourth overall. Jan Hoerl and Andreas Wellinger led the second round, each posting 92-meter jumps. Alex Insam, who had been close behind Wąsek in the overall ranking, found himself in 21st place after the first series.

In the second round, changing wind conditions affected the athletes’ performances. Juroszek matched his earlier 85.5-meter jump, but climbed to 15th overall. Wąsek’s second jump reached 86 meters, resulting in a drop to fifth place, while Kubacki’s 87-meter jump positioned him just behind in sixth.

As the dust settles in Hinzenbach, Kraft finished in third place, significantly narrowing the gap to Wąsek, who still retains the overall lead in the Summer Grand Prix. The climax of this thrilling competition will unfold in Klingenthal, with both individual and mixed-team events scheduled for October 5th and 6th respectively.
