During Friday’s training session, the focus was on fine-tuning performance ahead of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Willingen. Johann Andre Forfang emerged as the best performer with a jump of 143.5 meters from the in-run. On the Polish side, Aleksander Zniszczoł delivered an unexpectedly strong performance, recording a jump of 135.5 meters and finishing in 15th place, making him the best performer among the national team.

Other Polish competitors struggled to keep pace: Piotr Żyła managed only a 127.5-meter attempt which placed him 30th overall, while Jakub Wolny landed at 111 meters (48th place) and Dawid Kubacki achieved 135 meters, finishing 21st. Paweł Wąsek, another Polish jumper, recorded a jump two meters shorter than Zniszczoł, earning him the 17th spot.

After earlier flights in Oberstdorf, the athletes returned to a smaller hill for these initial training sessions. However, the move to Willingen promises longer jumps due to the facility’s Muehlenkopfschanze – currently the world’s largest large hill, making jumps of over 150 meters possible. In addition to the standout performances by Forfang and Zniszczoł, Daniel Tschofenig and Kevin Bickner also managed to secure a place in the top three of the training session.

The article concludes by expressing hope that the competitors will translate the potential seen in training into better results during the actual competition, as some athletes have previously shown they are capable of significantly improved performances during events compared to practice rounds.
