In a thrilling showdown on the US Olympic ski jump in Lake Placid, Austria’s ski jumping team — known as the ‘Eagles’ — continued to break records. Jan Hörl finished in second place and Daniel Tschofenig managed third, enabling the Austrian team to claim the highest number of podium spots in the current season. Only Norwegian jumper Johann Andre Forfang prevented an all-Austrian 1-2 finish by clinching the victory with the first win of the season.

"It was really cool, I’m mega happy with second place," said Hörl, while Tschofenig noted that the jumps were of very high quality. Despite turbulent wind conditions that added an extra challenge, the Austrians exploited every opportunity to set new benchmarks.

The competition also saw unexpected challenges off the jump; Halvor Egner Granerud, another favorite, encountered travel problems due to a misprinted passport number in his visa documents, forcing him to rebook his journey via Canada with lost luggage. Such complications added to the drama of the event, as the battle for the overall title heats up with the Austrian duo now closely trailing each other in the quest for the crystal globe.
