Kamil Stoch Struggles with His Current Form: "I Have to Face the Truth"

Kamil Stoch has candidly shared his feelings about his current performance, admitting that it is far from what he expects from himself. "Good, repeatable jumps. At the moment, I am not able to achieve such jumps," he lamented in a conversation with Polsat Sport. Although he scored points only once during the competition in Wiśla, he managed to find a glimmer of hope in his situation.
Last weekend, the world's top ski jumpers gathered in Wisła to participate in two individual competitions. Sunday's event saw the best performances from Polish competitors, with six of them advancing to the second round, including Stoch, who finished 25th. On Saturday, he placed 33rd.
Stoch realizes that his form is far from ideal. "We need to face the truth: we are entering the main phase of the season, and it would be good to showcase stable form. Good, repeatable jumps. Right now, I am not delivering those," he admitted in his chat with Polsat Sport.
He acknowledged the factors in his jumping that are not functioning as they should. "I struggle to maintain a good take-off position. I lose my balance in the transitional phase just before the jump, which causes my jumps to be very delayed and lacking in good rotation," he continued.
Although he reported some improvements on Sunday, it is still "not what he wishes for." "With a heavy heart, I accept this situation," he confessed, pointing out that over time he should get better, executing more jumps as he recovers from a knee injury. "Indeed, I think time is on my side," he noted.
On Sunday, Pius Paschke from Germany emerged as the top jumper in Wisła, dominating his competitors. He was followed by Austrian Jan Hoerl in second place and his compatriot Stefan Kraft completed the podium. The next World Cup events are scheduled for the following weekend (December 14-15) in Titisee-Neustadt, Germany.
