Kamil Stoch Reveals Plans: Immediate Reaction to Results

— It's definitely more of a mental issue — says Michal Doleżal, Kamil Stoch's coach, in an interview. The Polish athlete has been scoring points regularly but modestly. — He certainly wants more, but it's a step-by-step process. As far as Kamil is concerned, his jumps are getting better — reassures Doleżal.

In June of this year, Kamil Stoch made a radical decision by parting ways with the Polish national team to pursue an independent training path, working now with coach Michal Doleżal instead of Thomas Thurnbichler. This season, he has consistently scored points, but despite appearing in the second series six times, he has only accumulated 44 points.

— We have definitely made progress from the start. Weekend after weekend. He certainly wants more, but we are progressing step by step. Regarding Kamil, his jumps are getting better. We know he is capable of much more, — states Doleżal for SkiJumping.pl.

— For me, it was important that Kamil started to feel during the competition jumps how he moved and what was happening to him during the jump. That's something we need to work on now, it's a crucial point, — he adds.

Doleżal discusses Kamil Stoch's form During the events in Titisee-Neustadt, Stoch ranked 24th and 25th. He currently sits 28th in the overall classification.

— It's definitely more of a mental issue. We need to consider that he showed good jumps in summer. Then he got injured, and had a five to six-week break, while the others didn't stop. I think during that time he missed a bit. What’s important is what I mention, that Kamil is catching the feeling. [...] Not everything is in the mind, but a lot of it is — explains the coach.

— If the jumps are ready, we plan to jump on Wednesday — he reveals.

Qualifications in Engelberg will take place on Friday, December 20. An individual competition is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
