In Wisła Malinka, preparations are underway for the weekend's World Cup ski jumping competitions. Kamil Stoch, one of Poland's top athletes, commended the organizers for the excellent preparation of the venue. On Thursday, the Polish team successfully completed a training session at the Adam Małysz ski jump. The situation is also explained by the president of the Polish Ski Federation.
Kamil Stoch remarked, "The organizers deserve applause."
His teammate Dawid Kubacki reminded that the venue in Wisła Malinka isn't his favorite, but emphasized that his feelings do not affect his performance. He added that he is getting closer to jumping at his best level again. "It’s a process. It doesn’t just happen by itself," he noted.
Another Polish competitor, Aleksander Zniszczoł, declared that he is capable of reaching the podium during the World Cup competitions. "I am able to compete for the highest goals. I am confident that the moment will come when I will achieve this."
He added that the World Cup competitions in Poland stand out because they draw a significant number of fans to watch the ski jumpers. "Besides, we are at home," he emphasized.
Adam Małysz, the president of the Polish Ski Federation, stated that those working on the preparation of the venue named after him had to work very hard to ensure snow coverage on the landing area.
"At one point we had a lot of snow, but it has been warm and rainy lately in Wisła. Much of it has melted. We had to transport snow from Kubalonka, from the cross-country trails, and we had to include a special machine that can produce snow at higher temperatures. However, just four days ago we knew that we could hold the competitions. Everyone involved could sleep soundly," said the head of the PZN.
He, however, expressed concerns about whether strong winds would disrupt the competitions, hoping that the weather forecasts would not come true.
After four competitions, the leader of the overall World Cup standings is German Pius Paschke, who has earned 316 points. He is followed by three Austrians: Stefan Kraft (240 points), Jan Hoerl (236), and Daniel Tschofenig (230). The highest-ranked Pole is Paweł Wąsek in 21st place, with Zniszczoł in 23rd, Kubacki in 24th, and Stoch in 27th.
During the press conference, it was announced that the Polish Ski Federation has signed a cooperation agreement with the Polish Tourism Organization. As part of this, the slogan "Poland. Travel" will appear on the bibs that the athletes will wear during the competitions on Saturday and Sunday.
"A key element of our partnership is a promotional spot, featuring Kamil Stoch, Piotr Żyła, and Maciej Kot. Our athletes turned into guides and actors, beautifully presenting Poland in this spot," said Małgorzata Wilk-Grzywna, vice president of the Polish Tourism Organization.
On Friday, qualifications for Saturday's individual competition will take place at the Wisła Malinka ski jump. On Sunday, the athletes will once again compete for World Cup points.
