Norwegian Olympic champion Daniel-Andre Tande has decided to retire from ski jumping, just months before the World Championships in Trondheim. The 30-year-old took to Instagram to share the news, explaining that he continues to struggle with the mental aftermath of a devastating crash during the flying hill event in Planica back in 2021.
Tande's accident occurred at one of the most challenging ski flying hills in the world, where he spent several days in an induced coma recovering from the severe consequences of his fall.
During his illustrious career, Tande achieved remarkable success. He captured Olympic gold with the Norwegian team in Pyeongchang in 2018, a highlight of his career. That same year marked another significant achievement as he became the ski flying world champion in Oberstdorf. In addition to these accolades, he helped secure three gold medals for Norway in team events at the World Championships.
