Jumping Dispute in Poland Escalates

After a fallout between the Polish ski jumpers and their former coach, the federation has responded. Measures will be taken in response to the "rude" behavior of the stars.

The conflict among the Polish ski jumpers has grown bigger and now has serious repercussions. Following strong criticism from Dawid Kubacki and Aleksander Zniszczol towards their former coach Thomas Thurnbichler, Wojciech Gumny, the vice-president of the ski jumping federation, has warned of consequences for such behavior.

"They should address such matters with the board or the president, not on television," Gumny criticized via sport.pl. "Whether it is true or not, such things should be discussed privately and not in the media. This is irresponsible."

Gumny clarified that such statements are "unacceptable and disgraceful" and announced that the board would need to discuss the potential repercussions.

What happened? Just before the season finale in Planica, former Four Hills Tournament winner Kubacki publicly criticized his former coach.

"For two and a half years we couldn't get him to bring some calm into the coaching responsibilities. That caused significant turmoil," Kubacki's criticism on Eurosport read.

Zniszczol echoed similar thoughts, stating, "In my opinion, the atmosphere was not what it should have been. There was no system during the preparation phase, which would have made it extremely difficult for us had he remained."
