Kamil Stoch's Clear Declaration About His Future: He Revealed His Plan

In an interview with Skijumping.pl, Kamil Stoch openly spoke about his future. "I plan to compete next season," he stated when asked about the upcoming Olympic Games. He did not stop there and continued to elaborate on his intentions.

During the recent individual competition, Stoch concluded his participation in the World Cup in Lahti over the weekend. After the training sessions and qualifications, it seemed that the three-time Olympic champion had a fair chance to debut in the team competition. However, he struggled and failed to qualify for the second round, finishing in 31st place.

"I would say it started quite well, even very well, but then I unnecessarily started to overthink things. At that moment, it seemed to me that my jump was average, and that I could perform much better. Then I began to search and fiddle with things I shouldn't have, causing everything to collapse like a domino effect," he explained during the conversation.

"After that, it was very difficult for me to regain my focus. In ski jumping, you need to be mentally clear and maintain one focus only. There was too much control and tension, which drained my energy," he added.

Regarding his future plans, Stoch mentioned that he was previously reluctant to discuss retirement questions. However, as he approaches the inevitable moment, he is now making clearer statements. In a conversation with Dominik Formela, who asked about his participation in next year’s Olympic Games, he directly admitted that he does not plan to retire after this season.

"I will do what I can. I have plans for the next season. I will try to prepare for it the best way I can. How it goes, only time will tell," said the jumper.
