Originally published in Przegląd Sportowy on December 11, 2024
Jan Ziobro, a triumphant athlete from the 2013 World Cup in Engelberg, has made a surprising return to ski jumping after preparing for three months, aiming to avoid injury. In a recent interview with TVP Sport, he shared his experiences of making several jumps, limited by fear but driven by the goal of filming an advertisement. Despite the challenges of adapting after such a long break, including regaining a feel for the jump, Ziobro's performance on the K95 ramp in Zakopane was remarkably impressive, even leaving his coaches astonished. He further criticized the current state of Polish ski jumping, paralleling it to times before the leadership of Adam Małysz, lamenting the absence of competitive edge among current Polish jumpers. Ziobro's journey reflects a mix of nostalgia, professional challenges, and an enduring love for the sport.
