A Historic Day in Wisła: Ski Jumping Breakthrough

In the season-opening event of the Summer Grand Prix held in Wisła, Marius Lindvik dazzled the crowd by not only winning the competition but also setting a new summer hill record at the prestigious Adam Małysz hill. However, Saturday's event will also be remembered for an extraordinary achievement that captured everyone's attention.

Estonian ski jumper Artti Aigro claimed an impressive second place, marking a historic milestone for his country. Ski jumping is not traditionally a sport in which Estonia has excelled, making the 25-year-old's performance all the more remarkable. Aigro has been the only consistent representative for Estonia on the World Cup circuit, and this podium finish is the first of its kind for Estonia in major ski jumping events.

The excitement surrounding Aigro's success was reflected on the FIS’s official profile on platform X, which celebrated the moment by stating, "A historic day for Estonian ski jumping. Artti Aigro comes in second place." This post was shared shortly after the competition concluded in Wisła.

Training with the Best

Interestingly, Aigro trains alongside a highly skilled Norwegian team, which has likely contributed to his recent successes. Last season was a breakthrough for him, as he accumulated a total of 66 points, securing 43rd place in the overall rankings. His best results included finishing 18th in both Willingen and Sapporo, and he made it to the scoring positions a total of 13 times.

With another Summer Grand Prix event scheduled for Sunday in Wisła, there's potential for Aigro to shine once more. The prologue is set to begin at 1:30 PM, with the first competition series starting at 3:00 PM.
