In Garmisch - Record Jump! Eva Pinkelnig Lands on the Podium

Eva Pinkelnig, the ski jumper from Vorarlberg, took third place during the opening event of the "Two Nights Tour" in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. On the last day of the year, she celebrated her first podium finish of the season, achieving a hill record.

Pinkelnig trailed behind the Slovenian champion Nika Prevc by 16.5 points, who secured the top spot with 275.8 points. The second place went to Norwegian Eirin Maria Kvandal, finishing just 7.2 points ahead of Pinkelnig.

Record Jump
In a field of 30 athletes, Pinkelnig showcased two impressive jumps, measuring 134 and 137.5 meters, the latter of which set a new hill record. This performance lifted the 36-year-old from fifth position to the podium. Meanwhile, Lisa Eder also made her way into the top 10 by landing jumps of 127.5 and 132.5 meters, and Jacqueline Seifriedsberger climbed from twelfth to ninth place with a jump of 133.5 meters after a shaky start of just 119 meters.

Julia Mühlbacher, who competed while recovering from a cold, finished in 19th after losing her first-round duel against Pinkelnig. Marita Kramer missed the cut for the final top 20, finishing 24th.

Looking ahead to the New Year, the ski jumpers will move from Garmisch to Oberstdorf, where the second and final tour event will take place on Wednesday, starting at 4:15 PM, with qualifications held just prior.
