Igor Medved has been appointed as the new head coach of Finland's men's ski jumping team, making him the second foreign national to take on this role. The first was Andreas Mitter from Austria, who led the team from 2016 to 2018. Medved's contract spans one year, with a possibility to extend for an additional year.

His appointment is effective immediately and comes at a pivotal moment for the Finnish Ski Association, which is currently facing financial challenges. To address this, Medved's salary will be subsidized by the Finnish Olympic Committee until October 31.

Before this role, Medved had been serving as the head coach of Slovenia’s B-team since 2011. The announcement of his appointment was made jointly by Medved and Mika Kojonkoski, the ski jumping sports director, who confirmed both the terms of the contract and the financing arrangements. Medved is set to travel to Kuopio to begin his coaching duties soon.
