Hüttel Supports Horngacher: Coaching Change ‘Not an Issue’

The German ski jumping coach, Stefan Horngacher, does not face job uncertainty despite the downturn in the team's performance in recent weeks. DSV Sport Director Horst Hüttel explained, "A change comes with its own risks, so a coach swap is not on our agenda," during a press conference in Willingen, as reported by ARD.

Horngacher, who has led the national team since 2019 after succeeding his compatriot Werner Schuster, had seen a promising start to the season with five victories by Pius Paschke. However, the team’s form has declined sharply since that initial success. Hüttel made it clear that as long as the coach and the athletes remain united, there is still a chance for improvement. He also noted that the entire coaching team is effectively engaging with the athletes, a sentiment expressed just weeks before the upcoming World Championships in Trondheim.

Despite some recent disappointments, such as Felix Hoffmann ranking only 15th in Willingen, Hüttel maintained that there is still room for turnaround if the smaller issues are addressed. The focus remains on collective improvement rather than a drastic change in leadership.
