Ski Jumping in Zhangjiakou: High-flyer Katharina Schmid Continues to Win

No one can beat her at the moment: Katharina Schmid has convincingly won the second ski jumping event in China as well.

Schmid arrived in China not only wearing the Yellow Jersey of the World Cup leader but also with fond memories of the Olympic hill from 2022, where she won Olympic silver two years ago. Currently, every jump from the 28-year-old Allgäu athlete is shining golden.

Dream Start to the Season for Schmid

With one exception, Katharina Schmid's season record is perfect - two victories and one second place. On Saturday during the first jump in China, she was the standard to measure up to, and this continued on Sunday. With a jump of 98 meters, the 28-year-old led after the first round, clearly ahead of Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Sara Takanashi.

The other Germans showed solid performances, with Alvine Holz temporarily sitting in tenth place, Selina Freitag ranked eleventh after the first jump, and Juliane Seyfarth qualifying as twentieth for the finals. However, for Anna Hollandt, it was another disappointing day as she missed the second round again, just like on Saturday.

Freitag Strong, Schmid Even Stronger

In the second round, Selina Freitag improved significantly with a long jump of 98.5 meters, finishing sixth overall. Seyfarth also climbed four places to finish sixteenth, but only Holz slipped and ended her competition in twenty-first place.

As usual, Schmid went off the jump last, and as has often been the case, she soared well above the green line again. For the third time this season, Schmid crowned herself as the winner. She finished more than twelve points ahead of Slovenia's Ema Klinec and Austria's Lisa Eder.

Also in the overall World Cup, Schmid has already amassed a significant lead - she is almost one hundred points ahead of the second-placed Nika Prevc.
