Ski Jumping World Championships Update
Just before the world championships in ski jumping set to take place in Trondheim, crucial announcements have been made. The Norwegian Ski Federation has confirmed that Halvor Egner Granerud, the great champion and two-time Crystal Globe winner, will not be competing due to an unexpected knee injury.
During a Wednesday training session, Granerud fell and injured his knee. According to team doctor Guri Ekaas, diagnostic tests and imaging have revealed damage to the medial collateral ligament – it has detached from its attachment on the tibia. Surgery will likely be necessary to repair the ligament and ensure optimal healing.
Granerud’s absence is a significant setback for the Norwegian team, especially in the team events. The athlete himself expressed deep regret at losing the opportunity to compete in his home country, a chance he had eagerly awaited since Trondheim was awarded the championships. A replacement will be chosen after the upcoming Continental Cup in Iron Mountain.
Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
