Ski Jumping World Cup in Willingen
Polish representatives in ski jumping – Paweł Wąsek, Aleksander Zniszczoł, Jakub Wolny, Piotr Żyła and Dawid Kubacki, along with the women Anna Twardosz and Pola Bełtowska – will take part in the qualification rounds of the World Cup event in Willingen this Saturday.
The women’s competition is scheduled to start at noon, while the men’s event will commence at 16:00. This comes on the heels of Friday’s mixed team contest held on the Muehlenkopfschanze, where the Polish team did not meet expectations, finishing only in ninth place, ahead of only Finland.
Austrian Daniel Tschofenig emerged as the top performer in the mixed competition with individual jumps of 136 and 140 meters, while Slovenian Anze Lanisek followed in second. With such performances, these athletes are being eyed as potential favorites for Saturday’s event. In the overall World Cup standings, Tschofenig leads with 1146 points, closely followed by his compatriot Jan Hoerl who trails by 103 points. Among the Polish competitors, Paweł Wąsek is the highest ranked with 354 points.
