Norwegian ski jumper Halvor Egner Granerud experienced a marathon of travel troubles on his way to the World Cup event in Lake Placid. A mistake in his passport number in Paris led to him being denied boarding his flight to Montreal, forcing an overnight delay until his passport issues were sorted out.

Arriving in Canada without his luggage, he had to borrow clothes and equipment to compete. On top of that, an extra delay at the US border added another hour to his journey. Despite these setbacks and starting with borrowed gear and a late start, Granerud managed a 116.5 meter jump in the qualification round, securing his spot for the final round of the competition.

Granerud’s dramatic journey serves as a reminder of the importance of double-checking travel documents when competing internationally.
