Johann André Forfang finally returned to the top of the podium by winning the large hill event in Lake Placid on Saturday. Forfang edged out the Austrian Jan Hörl by 2.9 points to claim victory, while Marius Lindvik delivered strong jumps in the final round to move up to fourth place, and Daniel Tschofenig also rounded off the podium.

Forfang opened the competition with a giant jump of 130.5 meters, which was the longest distance in the first round. In his second jump, he managed to secure the much-awaited win with a 121-meter flight. The victory marks his sixth individual World Cup win, having not won individually since March 10, 2024, when he claimed victory at Holmenkollen.

The article also highlights that Forfang is currently in top form, with five podium finishes from the last six individual World Cup events. It mentions his contribution to Norway’s win in the mixed team event in Willingen. Additionally, the article reviews the day’s performances of other competitors: Marius Lindvik enjoyed a good day with two solid jumps improving his ranking, while Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal saw his chances slip after a disappointing 109.5-meter jump. Halvor Egner Granerud, who struggled with a series of setbacks including equipment troubles and travel issues, ended up last in the final round.

Comments from Anders Jacobsen on Viaplay captured the atmosphere, noting that although Forfang is not always lucky, his calm performance this time allowed him to seize the victory.
