The International Ski Federation (FIS) has taken decisive steps following the scandal involving the disqualification of Norwegian jumpers, Marius Lindvik and Johann André Forfang, during the World Championships in Trondheim. According to Jakub Balcerski from Sport.pl, a special commission is set to be formed to investigate the matter.

As reported by journalist Jakub Balcerski on the social media platform X, FIS has announced the creation of an independent investigative commission. Its task will be to conduct a detailed inquiry into "potentially extensive equipment manipulation" that led to the disqualification of the Norwegians from the large hill competition.

Ski Jumping Scandal Like Never Before

The controversy erupted following the release of video footage suggesting illegal modifications to jumpsuits, as revealed by Polish journalist Jakub Balcerski, who posted the video on platform X. This prompted protests from Poland, Austria, and Slovenia. The disqualification of Lindvik, who lost his silver medal, and Forfang became one of the loudest events of the championships.

Director of the World Cup, Sandro Pertile, officially confirmed that the Norwegian jumpers cheated: "This is one of the darkest days for ski jumping; we will consider further consequences," he stated in a conversation with Eurosport.

FIS now intends to thoroughly investigate the scale of the problem, which could shed new light on the integrity of competition in ski jumping. The results of the investigation could bring further consequences for the Norwegian team and impact future equipment regulations in the sport.

Consequently, following the disqualification, Jan Hoerl became the vice-champion, and Ryoyu Kobayashi climbed onto the podium. The only position that did not change was Domen Prevc, who remained the gold medalist. All Polish athletes were able to move up by two spots.
