The ski jumping event was anticipated to be a busy Sunday for athletes competing in the Continental Cup in Klingenthal. Two individual competitions were scheduled to take place in Germany, but the first event has been cancelled due to strong winds. The future of the second event is also unclear.

Organizers in Klingenthal have struggled with strong winds since the beginning of the weekend. On Saturday, the competitions were postponed to Sunday due to the unfavorable weather conditions, requiring athletes to compete in both contests on the same day.

The wind speed on Sunday did not significantly decrease, although a trial round was conducted. However, the competition was repeatedly halted as some athletes achieved remarkable distances, with Swiss jumper Sandro Hauswirth landing at an impressive 149 m. If that jump had been performed in a competition, it would have set a new hill record, surpassing the current record of 146.5 m held by Michael Uhrmann.

The first competition was initially set to start at 1:05 PM, but officials postponed it to 1:15 PM due to poor conditions. Then a decision was made to commence at 2 PM, but ultimately, the jury opted to cancel the competition. Meanwhile, the start time for the second competition was moved from 4:15 PM to 3 PM, but if conditions do not improve in Klingenthal, that event may also be cancelled.

The outcome of the second competition is crucial for Kamil Stoch and Piotr Żyła, who are vying for the final spot in the national team for the upcoming World Cup in Zakopane. Thomas Thurnbichler mentioned after the Polish Championships that the jumpers competing in Germany (Maciej Kot, Klemens Joniak, and Tymoteusz Amilkiewicz) also have chances to be selected for the upcoming competitions.
