Bleak forecast for Polish ski jumpers: A single word — "tragedy"

Andrzej Wąsowicz does not see chances for Polish jumpers to win a medal during the ongoing World Championships in classical skiing. — Let's be realistic, our team is performing decently, but it's not enough — said the president of the Silesian-Beskid Ski Association.

In the Sunday competition on the normal hill in Trondheim, the best among the Poles, Paweł Wąsek, finished 10th. The triumph was claimed by Norwegian Marius Lindvik, followed by Germany's Andreas Wellinger and Austria's Jan Hoerl.

Wąsowicz stated that the Polish team did not perform poorly during the first round of the competition and successfully all five reached the finals. However, the performance in the second trials, apart from Wąsek, he described as "tragic". — Besides Paweł, on the normal hill, everyone jumped about 10 meters less than Lindvik — he pointed out.

Austria may feel disappointed

He admitted that considering the victory of Lindvik, one could speak of a surprise, but more so because no Austrian, who has been shining this season, won a medal. — It was said previously that they could win even two medals in this competition. Meanwhile, it ended only with the third place of Jan Hoerl — he recalled.

This week, the jumpers will compete for medals on the large hill in Trondheim, where four more competitions will take place: individual for men and women, team for men, and mixed competition.
