Michael Hayböck was given a bubbly welcome by colleagues in the finish area during a mega weekend for the ÖSV (Austrian Ski Federation) that concluded in Planica. This occasion not only celebrated the overall victory of Daniel Tschofenig, but also marked a special moment as Hayböck announced his retirement from ski jumping. At 34 years old, he concluded his remarkable career with nine medals from major events, five World Cup victories individually, and eleven with the Austrian team.
In a ceremonial final jump on the monster hill in Planica, Hayböck exhibited extraordinary grace by descending with a specially designed suit and three additional gates for added momentum. During this jump, he even managed to surpass the 230-meter mark.
