Halvor Egner Granerud, a well-known ski jumper from Norway, will not participate in the World Championships in Trondheim due to a serious knee injury. According to the Norwegian Ski Federation (NSF), the injury occurred during a training camp in Lillehammer when, after a jump of around 130 meters, one of his skis detached during the landing. Granerud immediately lost his balance and landed heavily on his stomach, after which he felt that something was wrong with his knee.

During a press conference in Oslo, Granerud lamented, "Sport gives and takes. I am in despair, because I have dreamed of competing in Trondheim ever since we qualified for the Championships." Medical examinations, led by team doctor Guri Ekas, confirmed that a surgical procedure is necessary to address his injury.

The 28-year-old has previously earned three silver medals as part of the Norwegian team and additional medals in individual and team large hill events at the World Championships. He has also twice won the World Cup, in the 2020/21 and 2022/23 seasons. His withdrawal is a significant blow to the Norwegian team as they prepared to showcase their strength at the international level.
