The first weekend of the Ski Jumping World Cup in Lillehammer was marked by Austrian dominance. Only Pius Paschke was able to compete closely with them. Polish team coach Thomas Thurnbichler has not many reasons to rejoice, especially considering the disheartening gap in the Nations Cup standings, which reveals a staggering distance between their points and those of the leaders.

Austria celebrated their win with Jan Hoerl emerging triumphant in Sunday’s competition, and overall, they reached the podium four times in Lillehammer. This strong performance translates into a commanding lead in the Nations Cup rankings, where Austria currently holds 717 points, leading Germany by more than 200 points.

In individual competitions, Poland's best performer was Paweł Wąsek, who finished 14th on Saturday and 23rd on Sunday. Other Polish participants, including Aleksander Zniszczoł, Dawid Kubacki, and Kamil Stoch, contributed to the team’s points, but the overall result leaves Poland in a disappointing sixth place in the Nations Cup with a total of 98 points, significantly trailing behind the Austrians.

Poland will have the opportunity to improve their standings in the upcoming individual competitions scheduled in Finland's Ruka next weekend, followed by the World Cup event in Wisła.
