Disaster for Polish Ski Jumpers in Bischofshofen: Only One Preserved Honor

The Polish representatives had a very poor showing at the Continental Cup competition in Bischofshofen on Saturday. The only one to save the honor of the "White and Reds" was Maciej Kot, who finished in ninth place. The other five members of our team failed to advance even to the top 30.

A total of five out of six Polish representatives competing on Saturday were eliminated after the first series. The exception was Maciej Kot, who ultimately made it to the top ten.

Among the other team members, Kacper Juroszek came closest to advancing into the final series but managed only 32nd place, while Andrzej Stękała was in 40th place (116.5 m), Klemens Joniak in 57th (118.5 m), Jarosław Krzak was 49th (108.5 m), and Tymoteusz Amilkiewicz 50th (113 m).

The event was dominated by Norwegian competitors. Robin Pedersen won with jumps of 135.5 m and 138 m. Second place went to Adrian Thon Gundersrud, and third to Robert Johansson.

This current season has been extremely disappointing for Polish ski jumping fans. In the overall World Cup standings, our two best athletes are only ranked in the second ten (Paweł Wąsek at 13th, Aleksander Zniszczoł at 20th). Experienced athletes such as Dawid Kubacki (34th), Kamil Stoch (34th), and Piotr Żyła (43rd) occupy distant positions.

Despite the poor performance, Maciej Kot was able to rescue some pride for Polish ski jumping. The events in Bischofshofen further emphasize the uphill battle that the Polish team faces in this season.
