Decision Made Immediately After Kamil Stoch's Jump: An Unprecedented Announcement

In the first series of the Sunday World Cup competition in Lillehammer, Eurosport commentators delivered an unprecedented announcement that ski jumping fans had never heard before. The information provided by FIS concerned the allowance for athletes to change their suits between jumps, in line with the latest regulations introduced this season.

One of the hottest topics during the inaugural World Cup weekend in Lillehammer are the new rules regarding suits. According to the rules introduced this winter, athletes are allowed to use only one suit on a single competition day.

In the past, some athletes would change their suits between the first and second series. However, there are exceptions that still allow for this under current conditions. A change is permissible if the suit is damaged or, for instance, soaked due to adverse weather conditions.

During the Lillehammer competitions, the second circumstance occurred. Right from the onset of the competition, heavy snowfall accompanied the events, prompting FIS to allow competitors to switch their suits between the series. This information was confirmed by Eurosport commentators, who shared a conversation between Borko Sedlak and Sandro Pertile discussing this issue.

As is well known, for the first period of the World Cup, each team could submit up to four suits for each competitor. Unofficially, it was reported that some teams only tagged one suit in Lillehammer to calmly observe what their competitors prepared, make potential adjustments, and seal the others for future weekends. In today's weather conditions, however, they may pay for this decision as they deprived themselves of the option to make changes.
