Dawid Kubacki's Alarming Words: A Bitter Summary of the Situation
Originally published in Przegląd Sportowy on December 31, 2024
In a stark reflection on his recent performances, Dawid Kubacki acknowledged feeling out of sync in the Four Hills Tournament, particularly during the events in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. "In Oberstdorf, we mixed things up. We did something different than what we practiced in Zakopane," he explained, citing reasons for his underwhelming opening at the tournament. The 34-year-old admitted to struggling to find his best form, with a disappointing ranking of 48th in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, which is far from his historical achievements on the hill.
"This year's season has been disastrous for me," Kubacki stated, pointing out that his decline began 2.5 years ago, even as he could still claim success earlier in 2023. As he prepares for upcoming competitions, he reflected on the importance of returning to his roots and noted that the team of Polish jumpers, including Jakub Wolny and Piotr Żyła, is hoping to push through toward better outcomes in the days ahead. The first round of the New Year's competition is set to commence at 14:00, with hope for a turnaround in fortune for Kubacki.
