Dawid Kubacki dethroned! There is a sensational Polish champion

A sensation in the Summer Polish Championships in ski jumping! Nineteen-year-old Klemens Joniak delivered two excellent jumps and secured his first title as the individual national champion at the Średnia Krokiew in Zakopane (HS105). Pawel Wąsek, a standout in the Summer Grand Prix, performed well too. The podium was rounded out by Dawid Kubacki. However, one notable name was missing from the start list.

Dawid Kubacki defended the title of Summer Champion of Poland during the individual competition on Friday evening at the Średnia Krokiew in Zakopane, where a total of 85 competitors participated. Unfortunately, Kamil Stoch was absent due to ongoing treatment for his knee injury.

All eyes of the fans and experts were focused on Paweł Wąsek, who had won the Summer Grand Prix, although he did not dominate the competition in the first series.

Interestingly, this year’s championships were held without the wind point adjustment system due to a failure of the organizing company, Ewoxx, which failed to support the championships in Zakopane.

The first series was exceptionally strong for Klemens Joniak, representing ŁKS Poroniec Poronin, who managed to jump 104.5 meters and took the lead. Wąsek followed closely, jumping 102.5 meters, with Maciej Kot rounding out the top three, jumping a respectable 102 meters.

Dawid Kubacki was fourth, with Piotr Żyła, who is returning from injury, in eighth place. Aleksander Zniszczoł, one of last season’s best Polish jumpers, stood sixth with a 97.5 meter jump.

In the second series, Szymon Sarniak surprised many with a jump of 99 meters, leading after the first ten jumps of the second series, followed closely by Jan Habdas at 98 meters. The judges decided to lower the take-off ramp after the first series due to alterations.

Piotr Żyła, in eighth place after the first round, managed to jump 97.5 meters which briefly took him to the top position, only to be superseded by Kacper Juroszek who jumped 99 meters.

Cuacki's performance in the second jump did not shine, landing 98.5 meters, but it was enough to momentarily take the lead ahead of his competitors. In a surprising twist, Joniak outperformed all competitors with an impressive jump of 102 meters in the second round, crowning him the Polish champion.

Meanwhile, in the women's competition, Anna Twardosz successfully defended her title, winning with jumps of 88 meters and 86 meters. Nicole Konderla took the silver medal, while Natalia Słowik secured the bronze, marking Twardosz's third career championship title.
