Bad Fall: Thea Minyan Björseth
Norwegian ski jumper Thea Minyan Björseth suffered serious injuries to her knee and elbow on Saturday. Following a heavy fall during her landing, the 21-year-old, who ended up in third place despite the crash, had to be treated on the spot and was eventually transported by ambulance.
Due to her injuries, Björseth will now have to watch from the sidelines at the World Championships in Trondheim, scheduled from February 26 to March 9. The Norwegian ski federation confirmed on Sunday morning that she will be out for the rest of the season.
According to Guri Ekaas, the team doctor, "Thea has sustained severe injuries to her elbow and knee." Further details will be provided after a comprehensive examination in Norway, which is expected to involve surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process.
This incident marks a significant blow for the Norwegian team, following a previous injury to seven-time World Cup winner Silje Opseth, who suffered an ACL tear in Sapporo in January.
