Chaos Before the World Cup Competitions! Leaders Race Against Time

On Thursday in Ruka, Finland, an unexpected situation arose when the Austrian representatives failed to appear for training ahead of the World Cup ski jumping competitions. The absence was due to equipment that did not arrive in time. The Austrians, who lead the Nations Cup, will compete in Ruka with the same lineup they had in Lillehammer, where the series was inaugurated.

Jan Hoerl

Led by Andreas Widhoelzl, the Austrian team will feature Stefan Kraft and Jan Hoerl, the Lillehammer champion, in competitions on Saturday and Sunday. They performed exceptionally well in their previous outings in Norway, securing top positions.

In the Saturday competition in Lillehammer, German Pius Paschke emerged victorious, with Austrians Daniel Tschofenig, Maximilian Ortner, Stefan Kraft, and Jan Hoerl following closely. The next day, Hoerl triumphed, outpacing Paschke, Tschofenig, and Kraft. Ortner finished eighth, while Manuel Fettner came in ninth.

Current Leaders in the Overall Standings

After two competitions, Pius Paschke is at the top of the World Cup overall standings, with Austrians Jan Hoerl, Daniel Tschofenig, Stefan Kraft, and Maximilian Ortner trailing closely behind. Despite the equipment delivery issues, the Austrian team is hoping to continue their good form in the upcoming events in Ruka.
