Daniel-André Tande has officially announced his retirement from ski jumping, marking the end of a remarkable chapter in his athletic career. The Olympic champion and multiple world titleholder has made this decision following a serious fall in 2021, which instilled a lingering fear of flying in him. Reflecting on his experiences, Tande expressed, "I have realized that jumping causes me more fear than joy."

Known for his incredible achievements, including a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics and a personal best jump of 243.5 meters, Tande's journey was not without its challenges. Throughout his career, he battled anxiety, yet he continually pushed the boundaries of the sport.

The turning point came during a trial jump in Planica, Slovenia, where he lost control and experienced a devastating fall. Although he was fortunate to escape serious brain injuries, the event left a lasting impact. While he attempted a comeback, Tande ultimately recognized that retirement was the best path forward. He concluded with optimism, saying, "I am really looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life."
