Adam Małysz's Bold Move: Alexander Stoeckl Takes on Ski Jumping Development

The Polish Ski Association has made a significant announcement with the signing of Alexander Stoeckl, a highly regarded figure in the world of ski jumping. Stoeckl is tasked with developing strategies for Polish ski jumping and Nordic combined sports, a decision seen as a strategic advantage for Adam Małysz and the national team. This appointment ensures that the knowledge and expertise of Stoeckl remain within Poland, preventing rival teams from gaining access to his experience.

Stoeckl will be instrumental in overseeing the national team’s operations, allowing head coach Thomas Thurnbichler to concentrate fully on athlete training, with Kamil Stoch being the exception. This new structure is expected to enhance the performance of the Polish team. Moreover, should Thurnbichler encounter any difficulties, Stoeckl is positioned as a viable substitute, thanks to his impressive history in the sport.

As a representative of the FIS, Stoeckl will advocate for Polish interests in international discussions surrounding ski jumping. His dedication was evident in his meticulous preparation for the first Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined Commission meeting, which has garnered praise from veteran members of the organization.

Although he will be based in Oslo, Stoeckl plans to frequently visit Poland during the off-season to provide robust support to the Polish Ski Association throughout the World Cup period. This arrangement also enables him to serve as an effective stand-in coach if any issues arise for Thurnbichler. Ultimately, Stoeckl’s main mission is to lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the performance of Polish junior athletes, tackling current challenges head-on and striving to elevate their competitiveness among seniors.
