New Leader of the Four Hills Tournament

We have a new leader at the halfway mark of the Four Hills Tournament! Daniel Tschofenig triumphed in spectacular fashion at the New Year competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and has taken the lead. Notably, Michael Hayboeck also stood out, breaking the record of the German venue that had stood since 2021. The competition is heating up as the event progresses. However, it is disappointing to note that Polish competitors have not made a significant impact apart from occasional breakthroughs.

After the German leg of the prestigious competition, which included contests in Oberstdorf and Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Tschofenig, Stefan Kraft, and Jan Hoerl are leading the charge, with Hayboeck also making a strong case following his record-breaking jump.

Currently, Daniel Tschofenig leads with 622.5 points, but his lead is slender, with Jan Hoerl close behind, just under eight points away, and Stefan Kraft right on his tail with 613.8 points.

Polish Ski Jumpers in the Background

This year marks the 73rd edition of the prestigious tournament and unfortunately, Poles have not been key players. The highest-ranked Polish athlete, Paweł Wąsek, sits in 11th place with 561.4 points. Jakub Wolny is 30th with 356 points, while Piotr Żyła follows closely at 32nd, amassing 351.3 points. The dismal performance is rounded off by Dawid Kubacki in 56th position with 106.4 points.

Following the contests at Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the competition will move to Austria. The next qualifying events are slated for January 3rd in Innsbruck, with the overall champion of the 73rd edition of the Four Hills Tournament to be crowned on January 6th in Bischofshofen.
