Apoloniusz Tajner Addresses Poor Start to the Season
Originally published in Przegląd Sportowy on December 03, 2024
Polish ski jumpers have not started the season as expected. Apoloniusz Tajner discussed his thoughts on the current form of the team in an interview with WP SportoweFakty, mentioning notable athletes to look out for in the upcoming events. He surprised many by naming Kamil Stoch, although he first mentioned Paweł Wąsek as the standout competitor.
Tajner stated that despite expectations to possibly not send anyone to Klingenthal, the team is aiming for improvement. He noted that Wąsek currently ranks highest at 21st in the general classification, and while Dawid Kubacki showed some potential ranking 10th in Ruka, it is a minor consolation in light of the overall performance of the Polish team.
In discussing potential leaders for the Polish squad moving forward, Tajner mentioned, "It is hard to predict. I believe Paweł Wąsek is currently the most consistent and dynamic. I would put my money on him right now." Surprisingly, he then expressed faith in Kamil Stoch's potential to regain his shape, citing that Stoch's legs are responding well and mentioning last year's physical strain on the entire group.
The upcoming World Cup in Wisła (December 6-8) will be crucial for the Polish ski jumpers to turn their season around and show better performances, as fans hope to see their favorites returning to winning form.
